Forex Broker Software Review - CMC Markets

CMC Markets has amassed a great deal of awards over the years not just for their Forex platform, but also their spread betting operation. This is not surprising as in 1996 they launched the world's first online Forex trading platform. Their business has since built up to an annual trading volume of £3 trillion.

They offer standard and fixed risk accounts. The fixed risk account means that there are guaranteed stop losses, however there is a premium on this account, but if you do want your stop loss guaranteed then you do have to pay for it. Otherwise, you are going to have to make sure that trades are not left open overnight, which is actually a sensible policy if you are new to Forex trading. You may miss out this way, but you are always going to miss out on that 'trading certainty'.

Within a fixed account the margin required is double that of a regular acount, but then again that is not such a bad thing as it cuts down on the 'killer' leverage. Stop losses are set at a minimum of 20 pips, which partially limits scalping, but in a small lot size account you are not going to miss out much due to that either.

CMC's spreads are not fixed, although they do average out very well, the usual spread on the EUR/USD is a mere 2 pips. All you have to do is make sure of the spread before you place a trade, but checking this and all the risk management options on offer should be a matter of course for every trade you open anyway.

Having been constantly developed over the years their software features OCO (One Cancels the Other) and If Done orders as standard, which become a valuable tool when it becomes time to move on from basic orders and develop a more advanced trading strategy.
